What to wear to fancy art auction?

3 comments so far

As in, Sotheby’s.
I’m a girl, young (<25).
One is in the afternoon, one is in the evening.
People who have been to auctions are encouraged to respond!!

I love art and go to auctions and shows constantly. And I have found that not only the art pieces are important but the clothing pieces as well. In the day I say a yellow but not TOO bright. Maybe combine with a black piece, but not so much that you look like a bumble bee, you know? And for night I would say an up-do (curled hair= GORGEOUS) With maybe a little black dress?
Hope I helped you- Lindsey♥

Can You Buy Them?

Where You Can Buy Collectible Cars And Toys

By Charles Carrico

Modern technology has made the lives of collectors much easier. In older days, a collector would have to search far and wide to get in touch with a seller, and then discuss the deal in person over several meetings. Now, if you want a collectible item you can use one of many different resources to find someone who can give you what you need. Here I will discuss some of the most popular resources, and how you can use them for your benefit. My main focus will be on collectible cars, mainly of the diecast variety. If this is your area in collectibles, then you may be able to learn something that will be quite helpful in your future dealings, and will perhaps help you find some invaluable additions to your collection.

The best way to take advantage of modern technology is to use web sites that are designed to hook buyers up with sellers. The most famous of these is eBay. The existence of eBay is an answer to the prayers of collectors everywhere, and it has sent the number of possibilities through the roof. You can find almost anything on eBay, and it has a thriving community of collectors who buy and sell their items year round. Diecast cars are given an entire section of their own, and at any given time you can find literally hundreds of search results. You can also be fairly confident that you won’t get ripped off. Ebay’s feedback system coupled with its security precautions make it fairly hard for a scammer to stay registered for long.

Another great resource is craigslist.com. You can find ads that are specific to your area, or you can search nationwide classifieds. There are many collectibles offered on there. There are also entire sections devoted to free stuff. If you look long enough, you might find an entire free box of diecast cars. You can also find the same thing at surprisingly low prices. This is a perfect way to find sellers. As long as you are patient enough to get on the site every once in a while and search around for collectible cars, you will eventually have some luck. You are not likely to be scammed on craigslist either, since most of the time you will meet the seller in person and make the exchange then.

There are sites devoted entirely to diecast cars. These specialty sites are very helpful for car collectors. One of the most popular sites is www.gomotorsports.com. It is devoted entirely to diecast cars, and sells them in an auction format with no reserve bid (a certain amount that must be reached in order for the sale to be completed). You should definitely give it a look, and see if you would like to consider it along with the rest of the online car buying options. If you are serious about finding quality cars for your diecast car collection, you should look at all of the different options before you decide on a certain place to buy from. Compare prices from all of the different sites and see what your final verdict is.

Any collectibles will take a bit of time and research in order to find out everything you need to know about the models and types. Diecast cars are the same way. Without doing decent research, you could end up overpaying for a horrible car that you could just as easily have found at a yard sale for 10 cents. Alternatively if you do the necessary research, you might find that car at a yard sale for 10 cents that is actually a valuable addition to your collection. So get all of the books that you can find on the subject, and start to increase your knowledge as much as possible in order to get great deals and avoid overspending on junk

How do I auction off my netzuke art?

1 comment so far

I have several pieces of netzuke art that I would like to sell,

I would suggest getting it appraised and offering it on eBay once or twice. If it is of great value, then find an honest and reputable auction house.

If I were rich I'd make an offer you could not refuse because I love netsuke.

Best Things About the Online Auto Auctions Internet for Just the Right Vehicle to Meet the Needs of You

Buying a car is one of the biggest purchases that most people make, second only to a house, and everyone hopes to find a steal of a deal when it comes time to buy for the help www.auction-entrepreneur-kit.com. These days, thanks to the internet and online car auction websites, there are even more options for checking out a large selection of seized cars, repossessed cars and vehicles that are being sold through the various kinds of used car auctions, both online and off.

One of the best things about the online auto auctions is that, while browsing the internet for just the right vehicle to meet the needs of you and your family, you can also take advantage of that same technology to do the investigation that will help you to know whether or not you really are getting a great deal on the car. Having that kind of research in hand, which includes digging up the Kelly Blue Book price to give you a good knowledge of the fair market price of the vehicle, will help you know when to stop bidding so that you don’t get carried away and end up paying too much because you got sucked into a bidding war.

One of the reasons why online car auction websites are becoming more and more popular all the time is that they eliminate the hassles of dealing with a car salesman. There is actually a lot of truth to the old jokes about the various sales tactics that car salesmen employ, and you can avoid all of that when you make your purchase through a car auto auction.

As you prepare to make your first vehicle purchase through an online used car auction, you should register with at least a few of the different online car auction websites and spend some time getting familiar with every aspect of the website and the online auto auction proceedings and policies for the help www.mining-auction-gold.com. Watch a few auctions on all of the sites that you are registered with to see how things progress and to get a feel for the “culture” of the different online auto auction sites. You will more than likely start to feel that one of the sites feels like the best place for you to try your hand at getting the winning bid on a car.

The websites that run the online auto auctions usually have a filtering function that will allow you to look for certain types of automobiles and to search in a certain region near your home. You might find that you have plenty of options within just a five mile radius of your home, or you may have to extend the search criteria for areas that are quite distant from your location. You will want to restrict the search area to a distance that you are comfortable driving to so that you can do an inspection and take the automobile for a test drive.

There are also vehicle history reports that are available online that can give you additional information on the vehicle you are interested in bidding on. Some online car auction sites provide those reports for an additional fee or have links to help you find such services. Do as much homework on the vehicle as you can upfront and keep in mind that with any type of used car auction, all sales are final.

how much do artists profit from having their art works sold in an art auction?

3 comments so far

If you mean how much money- the auction house probably takes a fixed percentage. say 20% to 50% of the sale price.
If you mean is it worthwhile -it’s usually good promotion for the artist as it’s a public sale and it establishes a value for your work in the future.
It increases the crediblilty of your work and career so it’s an added value for all your future work too.

How much should you charge as an entrance fee for a silent art auction?

2 comments so far

It's a fundraiser for a fledging org that wants to be nonprofit. All of the art is is from local (but probably unknown) artists of all types. I was thinking $10 (it's in a rich town), but the real organizers think $2. It's at night, and there will be food.

3$

I'm trying to identify the artists for four large modern art glass vases I purchaed at an auction.?

2 comments so far

I purchased four large modern art glass vases/vessels at an estate auction a few weeks ago. I can't find an artist's signature on the vases. Does anyone know if glass artists usually signs their work? These are beautiful, bold colored vases with swirls and peacock designs. Each one stands over 18 - 24 " tall. Would appreciate any assistance with this.

go to google and search "glass vase peacock design" - you'll get about 24,000 hits on it. Maybe narrow it down by including main color or other descriptor in the search. Look around, especially on the ebay links to see if their pictures look like yours. Glass artists don't always sign or stamp their work. If you really want to know, take it to a reputable auction house - look in the local phone book under auction or antique appraisal. Make sure they are reputable - if they offer to buy it from you on the spot, get another opinion first.

Starting Your Own Internet Business

Whether you have operated a bricks & mortar business previously or are only just now intent on trading in the real world, you have no doubt already weighed the pros and cons of Internet Business, with the pros coming out in front.  Your product research has paid off and all you need now is Internet presence.  The proceeding points are some of the many you need to consider when approaching the task of operating on the Internet.

Where Will You Sell Your Product

The Internet is such a big place that you could be excused for thinking this section is quite obvious.  You must be quite clear with this point however, as some of the many options include; i) Selling from your own website; ii) Selling from external classifieds or auction sites; or iii) A combination of the two.  Your decision will ultimately affect your file hosting requirements, your ability to market your product as well as the costs involved in any of the selling stages (listing, advertising, sale, communications, and product shipment).

Your Hosting Requirements

Regardless of where you have decided to sell your product on the Internet, you will no doubt need to hold your information somewhere.  In the case of selling products on your own website you will certainly need to organize a suitable service for your site.  Internet classifieds and auction sites these days allow you to provide your own pictures to increase the appeal of your advertisement, so long as they are hosted somewhere else (i.e. on a server other than theirs).  If you do not have the expertise or budget to organize your own hosting for this purpose there are many free picture hosting sites out there where you can upload your product images and simply reference their addresses in your classified or auction site advertisement.

Domain Registration & Hosting

If you so require, a domain name and suitable hosting package can be purchased quite cheaply these days.  Engine searches will provide you a plethora of options from which to choose from, depending on your requirements.

Site Development & Options

If selling on your own website is your chosen path, the development of your site will depend on your level of expertise, money and time constraints.  Obviously the key is to have a fully functioning site in the shortest time possible so as to begin selling as soon as possible.  Talk to experts in the field.  It might not be cost effective to have a complete content management and shopping cart system designed for you from scratch, but there are certainly other alternatives.  There are several free or budget template services out there that might be just what you’re looking for, as well as free-to-use open source software, again, depending on your requirements.

Advertising & Marketing

More important in the case where you are selling through your own website is the issue of advertising and marketing.  Obviously, the more relevant people that are exposed to your advertisements the greater the likelihood that your item will sell at your desired price.  Regardless of your budget size a simple engine search will help you find an advertising method that best suits you.  If you are fortunate enough to be time rich, you may find actively posting your website on classifieds and business community sites to be quite beneficial for you.  Again, it all depends on your individual situation.

Even after you complete these stages in your journey toward successful business on the Internet, it will do you good to constantly evaluate your situation to ensure you are providing yourself and your business everything possible to promote your desired success.
