e.g. stone sculpture compared to ice sculpture – particularly if the original is not on public display
no, people will pay for memories and bragging rights
it doesn’t have to last to sell. and most stuff will deteriorate over time anyways, if only from improper storage.
funny/gross story-fellow art students recreated the Amercian dollar large scale, selectively covered [...]

Any advice for hosting a silent auction?

I have a charity art show and silent auction coming up in a couple of weeks and would like some input from people who have held them in the past! Any particular do’s and don’ts and words of wisdom/experience would be greatly appreciated!

This has always puzzled me. Why does abstract art sell for as much as, or more than, figurative art?
Whenever I go into an art gallery or art auctauction I’m always blown away by the price tag put on the abstract art there. Much of the work is very simple, so much so that someone just [...]

At auction, what does it mean when they say "Passed"?

I’ve been watching some art auctauctions online and I’ve noticed that even though people bid sometimes they say "Sold" but other times they say "Passed" what does it mean?
When the word Passed is used,it means they have stopped bidding. They don’t want the item.
