what is the best way to remove wax from antique glass?
I collect art deco Cambridge glass/Farber Bros. chrome and I recently purchased a set of wine goblets from an auction. For those not familiar, there is a removable glass inset inside a chrome holder and stem.
It appears that someone was using them as candle holders. There is wax all over the antique glass and chrome holders. What is be best way to remove this without damaging the glass?
I thought about hot water but didn’t want the wax to clog up the sink.
Ice, or carefully put them in the freezer for awhile. I’d use my fingernails to scrape off the wax.
Good Luck!

The wax won’t clog up the sink if you don’t let it go down the drain. It won’t become liquid in the hot water, it will be soft and pliable though. You can easily pick it out of the water. If it gets too soft to catch all the pieces, dump in some ice and voila, solid wax. You could also put a mesh strainer in the drain to catch any bits you miss.

Just put them in the freezer for a bit and then it will pot right off when you touch it. I do this all the time, I have antique candle holders that get dripped on.
