A friend of mine is hosting a charity event with a silent auction…?

..Some of my art prints will be auctioned. What is an appropriate percentage to donate? 10% ? 20% ?
Wow I had no idea, the 100% is not a problem at all. I was just wondering because I am also doing a Holiday Boutique for the booster club at a local elementary school, and they request (mandatory) a 20% of all sales.

Seems to me that if it is for charity; then if you donate less prints and donate at 100% then it is a true donation on your part.
Asking a percentage in my opinion is like taking your old furniture to Good Will and then taking it off your taxes.
In my day and in my family that is just not done. That is getting the citizens to pay for your left overs.
When you donate to a charity that you believe in then you should be willing to give all; if only one or two works.
By taking a percentage you are basically getting a commission
for charity work.
This is just my opinion and is not a personal attack aimed at any one or any charity.

I donate 50-100%. You are only donating prints, not original pieces, so 100% is entirely appropriate. Remember, this is charity, & you are supporting a friend. If feeling good about those things are not enough, know that this is also a public relations effort. Are you making the most of that by sending out press releases? The 1st one I sent to a tv station garnered me a live on-camera interview on site.
