how much do artists profit from having their art works sold in an art auction?

If you mean how much money- the auction house probably takes a fixed percentage. say 20% to 50% of the sale price.
If you mean is it worthwhile -it’s usually good promotion for the artist as it’s a public sale and it establishes a value for your work in the future.
It increases the crediblilty of your work and career so it’s an added value for all your future work too.

  1. It depends how much time & effort was put into the piece & the how much you get out of it.
    If you spent 3 days making something & get $5, there would be no profit. Opposed to if you Made something in 3 days & got $1,000.

  3. Depends on cost of materials and labor and market conditions and popularity
    if the art like me i make jewelry if it cost $300 in materials took me a few hours
    and the buyers were looking for that type i would expect to make 2-3 times the cost of making if no one wants that kind of stuff and offered 20 dollars i would be out of biz the next day actually i would not waste my time making it unless
    it was for me to wear :}
