I'm trying to identify the artists for four large modern art glass vases I purchaed at an auction.?
I purchased four large modern art glass vases/vessels at an estate auction a few weeks ago. I can't find an artist's signature on the vases. Does anyone know if glass artists usually signs their work? These are beautiful, bold colored vases with swirls and peacock designs. Each one stands over 18 – 24 " tall. Would appreciate any assistance with this.
go to google and search "glass vase peacock design" – you'll get about 24,000 hits on it. Maybe narrow it down by including main color or other descriptor in the search. Look around, especially on the ebay links to see if their pictures look like yours. Glass artists don't always sign or stamp their work. If you really want to know, take it to a reputable auction house – look in the local phone book under auction or antique appraisal. Make sure they are reputable – if they offer to buy it from you on the spot, get another opinion first.

Signing depends on the artist and the generating studio/factory. Even some famous name places did not sign or mark their work. You will need to have someone knowledgeable about glass (not just decorative art or antiques) to look it over so they can see the thickness of the glass, the colors used, and patterns.
